Schema

Today in class, we discussed SCHEMA.  We read the story, It Looked Like Spilt Milk, observing the various shapes of "clouds" and discussed how if we've ever seen a picture in the clouds, and tried to show it to someone, they just couldn't see what we were seeing.  This is because each person has their own schema. Our past experiences help to shape and mold who we are, and how we "see" things.  After talking, each student received a picture with a squiggly line in the middle.  Based on their schema, they were instructed to draw what they saw.  We got some really great interpretations!

Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Welcome back to the start of a new school year!  I am very happy and excited to be at Jackson for the first half of the year!  I have a lot of fun activities planned for my time with fifth grade!  I am excited for the first day of school to meet those students who were not able to make it to Open House! I am also looking forward seeing those students who I was able to meet during Open House!  See you at school soon!
